Physician Opportunities

Dufferin County is a community that encompasses Orangeville, Shelburne, Grand Valley/Melancthon, the Town of Mono, and Murmur and Amaranth Townships.  While Orangeville itself is not currently seeking new family physicians, the surrounding communities and townships are designated as under-serviced and are eligible for Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention grants. There are presently 42 family physicians serving residents of Dufferin and north Peel Counties, of whom 35 are associated with the Dufferin Area Family Health Team.

Headwaters Health Care Centre, the 87 bed hospital in Orangeville, has a long tradition of family physician involvement, offering opportunities in inpatient care, hospitalist care, surgical assisting, inpatient palliative care, paediatric coverage, low risk obstetrics and emergency department shifts. There are numerous leadership opportunities for family physicians within the hospital, as well as opportunities for work in other forums within the community such as the Dufferin Area Subregion Collaborative and Dufferin sub-LHIN.
